Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday May 12, 2015 at the age of 89 years. George was the beloved husband of Carmel Walker who predeceased him in 2006. They were married in North Bay March 28, 1948 at the Pro Cathedral. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. George was a proud father of five children, Greg (Carol) of North Bay, Wendy Jamison (Gord), of Peterborough, Mark of North Bay, Mary Catherine Boehk (Jim) of North Bay, Jane Hansford (Joe) of North Bay. He will always be remembered by his grandchildren Josh, Ben, Paul, Leanne, Justin, Megan, Jordan, Mariah, Kyle and Julie. Also ten great grandchildren Olive, Sophia, Eric, Selena, Molly, Hunter, Ella, Charlotte, Eilish and Maddox. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Walker of Rivers Manitoba, his sister Mary and brothers Robert and Frank. George was a northern Ontario sales representative for 3M Canada for over 30 years and was honoured many times by his company and customers. He was affectionately called “Mr. 3M of The North”. George was an ardent catholic and was very active in his church Corpus Christi for over fifty years. Being involved with the parish council, finance committee, etc. During this time he was also a founding member of the Knights of Columbus of that parish and a fourth degree Knights of Columbus Albanel assembly. George also served on the directorate of Corpus Christi Court for many years. He is a life member of the North Bay  Elks Lodge, having received his fifty year pin in 2008. He served on many committees, especially the club end, over which he presided as chairman for a few years. George was an avid golfer and enjoyed many years at Pinewood Golf with the seniors. He was also an avid cribbage player. Friends may call upon the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Tuesday May 19 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Wednesday May 20 at 11am. Lunch will be served after in the Parish Hall. Cremation to follow with burial at All Saints Mausoleum beside his loving wife. Donations if desired can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be gratefully appreciated.
