CAZABON, Michel Lionel (Mike)

Passed away at Eastholme Home for the Aged on April 9, 2016 at the age of 76 years.   Dearly loved husband of Carmen (nee Ducharme), loving Father of Ginette, Yvan (Jennifer), and Daniel (Natalie).  Beloved grandfather of Sarah, Connor, Jolan, Maya, Rylan, Garan, and Madelyn. Predeceased by his parents Isabelle (nee Gagnon) and Lucien.  He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters Luc (Jackie), Micheline (late John), Claude (Lynda), Gabriel (late Rachel), Monique (late Gaetan), Suzette (Vince), Roberte and Robert as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.  Mike was blessed with caring neighbours and lifelong friends who will miss him. Mike began his teaching career in Midland then Trenton before moving to North Bay where he taught math and French at Chippewa Secondary School.  He retired in 1995 after 33 rewarding years in the classroom.  Mike had a wealth of talents and enjoyed many hobbies but he will be best remembered for his remarkable craftsmanship in woodwork and carpentry; his legacy will live on in the pieces he lovingly built for family and friends.  Mike loved to travel and felt fortunate to have shared that love with Carmen in their travels to Europe, and with the family as they explored the continent during years of summer road trips.  Always ready with a joke or a pun, he taught his children the benefits of laughter.The family is eternally grateful to the staff of Eastholme Home for the Aged for their dedicated and compassionate care during Mike’s residency. Memorial donations to Eastholme or Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be appreciated by his family. The family will receive visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home, North Bay, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, April 15, 2016.  A funeral service will be held at St Vincent de Paul at 11 am on Saturday, April 16, 2016.

C’est avec la plus profonde tristesse que la famille annonce son décès à Eastholme, foyer pour les personnes âgées, le samedi 9 avril 2016 à l’âge de 76 ans.    Il laisse son épouse bien-aimée Carmen (née Ducharme) et ses enfants précieux, Ginette, Yvan (Jennifer) et Daniel (Natalie) ainsi que ses petits-enfants chéris, Sarah, Connor, Maya, Jolan, Rylan, Garan et Madelyn. Il rejoint ses parents Isabelle (née Gagnon) et Lucien.   Cher frère de Luc (Jackie), Micheline (feu John), Claude (Lynda), Gabriel (feue Rachel), Monique (feu Gaetan), Suzette (Vince), Roberte  et Robert.    Il laisse en deuil plusieurs nièces, neveux et amis. Mike a débuté sa carrière dans l’enseignement à Midland, ensuite Trenton avant de s’établir à North Bay où il a enseigné les mathématiques et le français à Chippewa Secondary School.   Il a pris sa retraite en 1995 après 33 années enrichissantes dans la salle de classe.  Homme aux multiples talents, Mike se livrait à de nombreux passetemps.    Maitre artisan en menuiserie, il laisse en héritage son savoir-faire dans les boiseries décoratives et les meubles qu’il a construits pour famille et amis.    Mike aimait voyager et a pu partager cet amour avec Carmen lors de leurs randonnées en Europe, et avec sa famille durant les voyages d’été à explorer le continent.    Bon vivant, Mike était féru des farces et des jeux de mots.   Il a légué à ses enfants, les bienfaits du rire. Vos témoignages de sympathie et de condoléances peuvent se traduire en don à Eastholme, foyer pour les personnes âgées ou à la Maison Sérénité du Nipissing, maison de soins palliatifs. La famille désire remercier le personnel compatissant de Eastholme pour les bons soins prodigués à Michel durant sa résidence au foyer. La famille accueillera parents et amis à McGuinty Funeral Home, North Bay, le vendredi 15 avril de 2 h à 4 h et de 19 h à 21 h.  Le service religieux aura lieu le samedi 16 avril à 11 h à l’Église St-Vincent-de-Paul.
