Plutino, Nicola ‘Nick’

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Nicola ‘Nick’ Plutino on January 4, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Dearly loved husband of Dora Plutino (nee Mancinelli). Loving father of Joseph (Monica-predeceased), Rosanna, Lucia (Brad), Luisa Ward and predeceased by his son Marco Plutino. Cherished Nonno of Nicholas, Isabella, Quintin, Alec, MacKenzie, Michaela, Matthew and David. Dear brother of Melina Demarco (Tony-predeceased), Nancy Greco (Archy-predeceased), Lina Fiorito (Mike-predeceased), Joanne Bueti (Frank-predeceased), Pina Plutino and brother-in-law of Arduino Manicelli (Remy). Nick will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  In addition to his son Marco, Nick is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Sapienza Plutino (nee Ficara), his sister Bridgita, and his brother Rocco Plutino (Helen-predeceased). Nick and his brother Rocco came to Canada from Italy in 1951.  He met and wed his beautiful bride Dora Mancinelli in 1959 and together they raised their family. From 1965-1977, Nick was the sole proprietor of Nick’s BP on Algonquin Avenue. Nick sold his BP station in 1977 and opened Nick’s Auto Centre on Seymour Street operating from 1977 to 1987.  He developed his Seymour Auto Mall and by 1989 rented 11 commercial and industrial units to local businesses. Family and business were the true loves of Nick’s life. Family will be receiving visitors at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Monday January 8, 2017 from 9 am until time of funeral mass at 10 am. Entombment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice or the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption Memorial Fund would be gratefully appreciated by his family. Special thanks to Dr. Prins, the nurses and staff at Cassellholme Home for the Aged for their care and compassion given to Nick and our family.
