Peacefully passed away at Eastholme Home for the Aged on June 16, 2015 at the age of 82 years. Dearly loved father of Rosalind (Robert Wigny) Cassidy, Maureen Cassidy and Christopher Cassidy (Angie Burke-Cassidy) and sadly missed by their mother; Chris Cassidy (nee Christoff). Devoted grandfather of Cassidy, Ronan, Aiden and Grace. Dear brother of Patricia, Terry and David. Bob will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents; George and Patricia Cassidy and his brothers; Michael and Anthony. Bob was the ‘Doctor of English’; he received his undergraduate at Western University followed by his doctorate at Western University and his Fellowship at Cambridge in England. He was admired and respected as a professor of English at Nipissing University. His family will receive visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Friday June 19, 2015 from 2 – 4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be conducted in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 10 am. Donations to the “Dr. Robert L. Cassidy Award in English Studies” (cheques only- payable to Nipissing University)” would be gratefully appreciated by his family.
