Stewart McCombie

McCombie, Stewart P. Eng.

Peacefully passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday January 17th, 2015 at the age of 86.  Stewart was the beloved husband of Helen (nee Harris), and loving father of Trisha Pecore and Robert McCombie (Heather).  Stewart is predeceased by his father Orton Steele, mother Jean (nee Jolly) and his brother John (McCombie).  Stewart will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Rory and Zach (Pecore), Maxwell and Katie(McCombie).Stewart graduated from the University of Toronto in 1952 where he began his career with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.  In 1972, Stewart moved to North Bay with his family where they laid down their roots.  While at the MTO, Stewart was the Head of the Regional Planning and Design office.  At his retirement in 1987, Stewart was the Head of the Regional Structural Office.  Both positions respectively held the responsibility of planning, designing and maintenance of all highways and bridges in Northeastern Ontario. Stewart was active in the community with ski racing, where he ran the Northern Ontario Alpine Ski Division and was a Director of Alpine Canada.  His passion for photography and involvement with the Master Gardeners, where he was Treasurer for 25 years, kept him close to others in the community.Visitation will be held at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday January 21st, 2015 from 7pm to 9pm and Thursday January 22nd beginning at 10:00 am, with a short memorial service to be conducted in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00am.
