Carol (Gooding) O'Connor

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Carol O’Connor, on Monday May 9th, 2022. She arrived in the emergency department Sunday around 5:30 pm after suffering from a second heart attack. She is predeceased by her parents Ken and Evelyn Gooding, sister Barb Kelly and her high school sweetheart and spouse Tom whom passed 2 years ago, which was truly the moment we first lost her. They would have been married 50 years this July. She is survived by her sister Judy (Louis), Tom’s sister Mary (Floyd), her 2 children Shamus & Kathy (Scott), 3 grandchildren Casey-Rylee, Kenna-Dee and Cameron, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins that were more like siblings growing up and a whole list of friends that I could not  even begin to list. Carol had a passion for cooking especially making homemade soups, watching car racing and playing cards. Her last job was in the bakery at Sobeys which she loved but gave up so she could take care of Tom on full-time basis. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, especially Carol‘s nurse Julie and Dr. Saunders-Who were tasked with the impossible and having to tell the family there is nothing that could be done , but make her comfortable. Your empathy and compassion put a bit of ease during a very difficult time and ensuring us that she was “without pain until she passed Dr. Abeysinghe, Sherri and staff for everything done over the years.  And “Toby” Dwayne Haddow, brother from another mother, you never hesitate to drop everything when you’re needed. A celebration of life will be planned for later in the summer.
