Gratien Benoit Poitras

Born May 27, 1929 in Causapscal, Quebec, Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on March 16, 2020 after an extended struggle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband to Gisela Poitras (nee Lott), Loving father to Sonia Poitras of North Bay and Michelle Ricci (Marco) of Milton.  Gratien was a cherished grandfather to Mila.  Predeceased by his parents John and Jeanne Poitras, and siblings Fernand, Lucien, Gaetan, Edith, Clairesse, and newborn sibling.  Gratien will forever be missed by his furry companion.  In Respecting Gratien’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Whispering Pines Funeral Homes Crematorium and a private family service will take place at a later date.  The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the VON personal support workers and Care Partners and nurses during their visits at home as well as all the staff at the North Bay Regional Health Centre for their care and a special thank you to Dr. Jinnah for her care and compassion during this difficult time.  Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice would be gratefully acknowledged by Gratien’s family.  Online condolences can be made www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
