Kevin Pinkerton Obituary

There are no words to express the broken hearts grieving the sudden, accidental death of our loved one, Kevin Pinkerton. Kevin passed away suddenly at the family home in New Liskeard, on July 19, 2021 at the age of 55. He was a devoted father to his three children: Rhiannah (partner Ben Fairfoull), Kaileigh, and Quinn. A beloved brother to his sister Carrie (former spouse Bill Steer) and dedicated uncle to their daughter Ali. Dedicated partner of Shannon Sayeau and role model to her children David and Claire. He will be sadly missed by his former spouse and mother of his children, Cheryl Sheffield. He will be greatly grieved by extended family, close friends and the community. Committed to his family, Kevin was the cherished son of Jacqueline (nee Renaud) and William Pinkerton (pre-deceased).

As a father, his children feel that no matter who had the privilege of crossing his path, all felt strongly impacted by his presence, love and kindness. Numerous family memories were created at the family home on the lake that he so caringly hand-crafted for us all to enjoy. Kevin was a man that left you feeling proud to have known him and touched the hearts of so many with his radiant smile and his genuine kind nature. Kevin was a staple in our community. He was a proud coach of hockey and baseball, leaving a legacy of compassion, commitment and education. He expressed love deeply and fiercely and held each of us so near and dear to his heart. He will always be a pillar of strength and love to us all.

Kevin was known for his passionate and successful commitment and service of 31 years with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry and Ontario Parks. He loved his work as Area Park Superintendent of Temagami Cluster of Provincial Parks. Kevin loved nature and his presence will forever be felt in the Temagami and area forests and lakes. Kevin shared his passion of the outdoors with each of his children. With his oldest daughter Rhiannah, Kevin spent many hours walking, talking, teaching, growing and sharing their love within the forest and creating impactful memories on countless family camping trips. He taught his middle child Kaileigh how to hunt respectfully, while constantly looking forward to learning, loving, and growing amongst nature. With his youngest son Quinn, he spent numerous hours in the back country and on the water, teaching him the ins and outs of angling, making nature accessible to others and the importance of hard work. His children all embody Kevin’s appreciation for the outdoors, and they will continue to feel their father’s presence through nature.

At Kevin’s request, an intimate celebration of life will be held at a later date. His family feels that Kevin would appreciate donations to any of the following foundations: Friends of Temagami, Canadian Mental Health Association, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
