Micheline Jasmin Obituary

Micheline Simone Mary Jasmin, was born on September 27, 1970, and passed away March 30, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Micheline was predeceased by her mother Jeannette Hersey (nee Bigras) and her ex-husband Alex Daur. She leaves behind her precious daughter Delaney Daur (Kaleb), her dad, Bob Hersey, her father, Michel Jasmin (Carmen), her siblings, Rosie Posie (Dick), TJ (Steve), Joey (Lisabeth), Michele, Shawn (Jesse), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. She also leaves behind her chosen family, friends who became more like sisters, Carol Voz, Melissa McGriskin, and Sheila Carruthers, along with many other devoted friends, and her OPSEU family and colleagues.

Micheline was a bright light to all who knew her. Born in Timmins ON, she made lifelong connections with so many people from her time in Sault Ste.Marie, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Sudbury, The Greater Toronto Area, and North Bay. She loved unconditionally, had a way of making everyone feel special, and was fiercely protective. She will especially be remembered by her infectious laugh. One of her favourite classics “We’re Here For a Good Time (Not a Long Time)” truly encompassed her zest for life. She loved the outdoors and some of her best times were had around a good bonfire, cold drink in hand, and in the company of some of the very best. She was bright and articulate, and she succeeded in any role she stepped into throughout her career path. Most recently, she was dedicated to her work as regional Secretary at OPSEU. She loved her job and work family in both region 5 and 6. Nothing in this world, however, could compare to the love and devotion she had for her daughter Delaney… Her “greatest accomplishment”, as she would say, and she was right.

Micheline was truly an inspiration throughout her battle with cancer. She remained strong and resilient, approaching each day with a smile and a positive attitude. Her incredible courage and unwavering positivity touched the hearts of all who knew her. She faced her diagnosis with grace, never allowing fear or sadness to overshadow the love and joy she brought to those around her. Even as she neared the end of her journey, Micheline continued to radiate love and light, bringing comfort and laughter to those who were by her side. Her sense of humour and strength of spirit remained undimmed, a true testament to her resilience and inner strength.

The family will receive visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, between 12 pm and 4 pm. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
