Ronald McFadden Obituary

Ronald Keith McFadden, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the North Bay Regional Health Center on 8 October 2021. Born in Timmins ON, on 18 March 1934, Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Anne (nee McCabe), daughters Kim Sheppard (George), Christine Loreto (Anthony). Grandfather of Matthew (Kelly), Samantha (Dustin), Sarah (Jon), Maude, Ellen, and Maxwell (London).  His great grandchildren - Charlotte, Olivia, and Samuel - brought him great joy during his last years.  Predeceased by brother Raymond McFadden and his parents Cliff and Hazel McFadden. Beloved brother-in-law of Helen, Rick and Marge, Jim and Mary-Ellen.

Raised in Timmins ON, Dad and Pat moved to North Bay 22 years ago after he retired from Kidd Creek.  Despite saying he would never leave Timmins, Ron adapted well to life in North Bay; being close to his family was everything. For that, reason Christmas morning was always a magical time in our home.  He was a generous man who wanted all children to enjoy the wonders of Christmas.  So every year he would pick out toys (usually ones he would like to play with!) to donate to the toy drive. Ron was also an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 in Timmins where he honed his bridge skills. Dad taught us many life lessons through card playing.   We had to learn the skills of the game, learn to lose gracefully, and any wins (he never let us win if we did not deserve it) we relished because we really beat the champ!

The family would like to thank the staff on C3 at the North Bay Regional Health Center for their compassion during his final days.   We take great comfort in knowing that he was watched over by caring and committed nurses who exemplify the best of their profession.  We would also like to thank Dr. Katarzyna Lukomska for her attentive care over the years.

Donations may be made to North Bay’s Santa Fund  705-472-1337.
