Andrew Laszlo Ratkai

RATKAI, Andrew L. (aka The RatMan) – Has finally left his earth suit at home in North Bay on Wednesday, May 23, 2018,  peacefully in his sleep at the age of 63, and not kicking and screaming as he’d predicted. He is now riding in the sky forever.

Son of the late Laszlo Ratkai, and the slightly older but much better looking sibling of sister Liz Dobbs Jones(nee Ratkai), favorite brother in law to Michael Jones, Uncle to Matthew Dobbs and Gabriel and Nathalie Jones all of Kingston (at the time of Andy’s writing). Great uncle to Ella Dobbs Geneau.

As per his written wishes there was to be no visitation; he was afraid nobody would show up.  As it turned out, there was a visitation as his self prepared notice was located the day after the Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.  Much to Andy’s surprise, dozens and dozens of friends, coworkers and biking companions came to pay their respects.  Online condolences were overflowing and one couple even drove from Indiana, U.S. and another from Sault Ste. Marie.  Cremation we guessed right, with private family interment to follow. Arrangements were entrusted to McGuinty Funeral Home, North Bay.

While he’d thought at the time donations to the party fund in lieu of flowers would defray the cost and show your expressions of sympathy, he’d later made it known charitable donations to the Telus Ride For Dad, Nippising Chapter was close to his heart. He has gone on the long ride, having a lifelong passion for motorcycles, among many other self taught accomplishments.
