Massicotte (nee Courchesne), Grace Joan
The family wishes to share with sorrow, the passing of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on October 30, 2019 at Eastholme Seniors Residence in Powassan, Ontario at the age of 94 years. Born and raised in North Bay, upon her marriage to Eddie Massicotte (predeceased) she became a long-time resident of Virginiatown, where they worked, raised their family, made many friends and lifelong memories. Moving to Sudbury to pursue her career, she then moved to Stratford to enjoy her retirement. She returned home to the North to be with family in her later years. Predeceased by her parents Hilda and Wilfred(Bud) Courchesne and her sister Lorraine Clemens of Fort Erie, Brothers Arthur and Francis (Fanner) of North Bay and her daughter Diane Beatty (Blair-surviving) of Powassan. She is survived by her sister Claire of Calgary, her children Joanne Quigley (Byron) of Powassan, Carol Texmo (Rory) of Port Hardy, B.C., Terrance and Anna of Kitimat, B.C., Lawrence of Red Deer, Alta., Maureen Vermette (Marc) of Warren, On., her grandchildren; Barry, Liane, Christopher, John, Gavin, Marinda, Emily, Greg, Cory, Nathaniel, Morgan, Mackenzie and her great-grandchildren; Cody, Evelyn, Anna Liese, Kasey, Colton, James and Grady. A dedicated school teacher for over 35 years, she touched many lives throughout her career. She loved music, figure skating, live theatre, and family times at the cottage on Raven Lake. The family will receive visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Monday November 4, 2019 from 4pm to 7pm, and on Tuesday from 10 am until the Funeral Service in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Society would be gratefully acknowledged.
