John passed away peacefully on March 22, 2018 at the Nipissing Manor in Corbeil a few days after his 98th birthday. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jeanne (nee Marasse). Loving and devoted father to Peter Thompson (Karen), Mark Thompson (Susan-deceased), Paul Thompson (Jan), Michael Thompson (Angie), Denis Thompson, Suzanne Thompson and Rose Marie Thompson (Ralph). Proud grandfather, great grandfather and great- great grandfather to many. A passionate cribbage player to the end he once attained the perfect 29 point hand. Wednesday was considered by his family as “Dads Day”. In keeping with that sentiment the family will receive visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday March 28th 2018 from 11am to 1pm. A Celebration of John’s life will follow at 1pm in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel. If desired donations to the Salvation Army are suggested and would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. John’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the Nurses and Staff of Nipissing Manor for their outstanding care and compassion, and the odd cribbage game they shared with John.
