January 17, 1938 to November 30, 2019
Roy was an avid outdoorsman, historian, mentor, student, loving husband, father and G.G, (Grumpy Grandpa).
He met the love of his life, Anne, at a dance in 1957, and the rest as they say is history.
Roy leaves behind his wife, Anne, his children, Cathy (Jean-Pierre Fortin), Erica Weegar (Siggi Taylor), Paul (Tracey Hone); and the grandchildren whom he was very proud of Jessica, Anne-Marie, Claire, Tessa and Rowan. As well as his brother Eric (Elaine) and sister, Jane (Peter Robertson), and many lifelong friends and extended family.
Roy lived a full and active life, and in the last few years he beat a brain aneurysm, the loss of a kidney, cancer and a heart attack, all with grace. He will always be respected for his knowledge of local history, lands and it’s waterways.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, due to Covid 19 restrictions.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors in the Emergency Department, CCU and Unit C1 of the North Eastern Regional Health Services.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
Dad, we wish you calm waters, a good canoe and a strong paddle. You will be missed.
