Salvatore “Sam” Giustra

January 6, 1934 – November 18, 2017 (age 83)

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Salvatore “Sam” Giustra, age 83 at North Bay Regional Health Centre, surrounded by his family on November 18, 2017.  Born in Laureana di Borrello, Calabria, Italy.  Sam was predeceased by his parents Francesco Giustra and Maria Rosa (nee Mamone), his sister Annunziata Giustra and his infant daughter.  He married the love of his life Elisa in 1967 and they raised four children together.  His greatest pleasure was dedicating his time and love to his family, especially to his 8 grandchildren.  He was an avid gardener and winemaker, and he loved to travel.  He was a lifelong member, a director and an active volunteer at the Davedi Club.

Sam is survived by and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Elisa (nee Servello), by his children Roberto (Marianne Jurcevic), Rosamaria (Graeme Hay), Daniela (Sean Kendall) and Sabrina (Cameron Culbert).  He will be remembered with lots of love by his grandchildren, Braeden, Tyler, Gabriela, Nicolas, Michele, Cameron, Sam and Ben. 

He will be sadly missed by his brothers Giuseppe (Domenica) of Vancouver, Francesco (Palma) of Rome, Italy, and Gerardo (Elisabetta) of Torino, Italy, and their families, and by his sisters-in-law Rosina Servello and Carmela Servello, and their families.  He was also beloved by many nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home, 591 Cassells St, North Bay on Wednesday November 22, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00pm, and on Thursday November 23, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30am.  A memorial mass will be held at 11:00am at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 299 Airport Rd, followed by a lunch reception at the Davedi Club, 313 Airport Rd.
