It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Verna-Jean Smith, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, on May 31, 2019 at the age of 70 years.  Verna-Jean was the loving mother to Terri-Ann Smith and Pamela Smith.  Verna-Jean will be remembered as a cherished grandmother to Ryan, Rachel, Alexander and Brandon and by Jeff Landry, father of Ryan and Rachel. Verna-Jean is survived by her brother Peter Young (Patricia) and predeceased by her parents Vernon Young and Reina Francis.  Verna-Jean will be affectionately remembered for her love, support and care of her daughters and  grandchildren.  As per Verna-Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place at Whispering Pine’s Funeral Home’s Crematorium.  Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory would be gratefully acknowledged by her family.  Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com.
