Hunt, William Francis

Born August 16, 1927 in Kitchener, Ontario, passed away on June 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Predeceased by his devoted wife Jean Hunt (nee McKee). Bill and Jean have lived in North Bay since 1960. Bill is the loving father of Pam Lemieux (Basil) of Geraldton, Ontario, Gregory Hunt (Donna) of St. Charles, Ontario, Keith Francis Hunt (Christine) of Laguna Vista, Texas and Deb Deering (Bill) of Astorville, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by his 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents; John and Sabina Hunt, his two brothers; John of Ottawa and Patrick of Sault Ste. Marie and his sister Sabina Adams of Sault Ste. Marie. William received his early education in Sault Ste. Marie and studied Business Economics at Cornell University. He was employed by the Great Atlantic & Pacific Co. of Canada Ltd. for 46 years, he served twenty of those years as General Store Manager in North Bay. A member of the Holy Name of Jesus Parish served as Minister of the Eucharist and administered to the sick at both North Bay Hospitals, he was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus 12030 Council and for several years was a board member with the North Bay Roman Catholic Cemeteries. William was associated with the St. Joseph’s School and for a number of years was president of the PTA. William believed strongly in the military and as a young man was a member of the 155 Squadron RCEME and a Col. in the Confederate Air Force based in Harlingen, Texas.  Family will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (591 Cassells St., North Bay) on June 29, 2018, from 6-9pm. In celebration of William’s life, a Memorial Mass is to be held at the Holy Name of Jesus Parish (146 Beth St., North Bay) on June 30th, 2018 at 10:30am. Inurnment will take place at All Saints Mausoleum.
