Passed away peacefully at Nipissing Manor on April 25th, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Claude was the beloved husband of Hélène (née Tessier) in their 55th year of marriage. Loving father of Claudette Laporte (René) and Julie Leblond (Gilles). Cherished and devoted pépère of Mathieu Laporte, Danielle and Marc Leblond. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents; Delima (née Mantha) and Idasse Amyot, and his siblings; Viata Rancourt (Paul), Gérard Amyot and Jean-Baptiste Amyot (Marthe). Claude worked for the ONR for 36 ½ years in telecommunications. He was a proud and faithful volunteer at Paroisse St. Vincent-de-Paul for his entire life, starting at the young age of 6 years old as an alter server, his devotion to the church and to his faith is immeasurable. He was the founder of Chevaliers de Colomb Council 8163 and was a proud 4th Degree Chevaliers de Colomb. He spent countless mornings drinking his coffee at Burger World on Hammond St. He will be missed by his family for his sense of humor, his devotion to his family and the strong love he had for his grandchildren. Claude’s passions included wine making, raspberry picking and watching hockey- cheering for the Habs. Claude touched the lives of many people and he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. The family will be receiving visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Sunday, April 29th, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Paroisse St. Vincent-de-Paul on Monday, April 30th, 2018 at 11 am. Donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Paroisse St. Vincent-de-Paul would be gratefully appreciated by his family.
