Douglas "Doug" Arthur Obituary

Douglas peacefully passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on February 16th, 2021 at the age of 75 years. Douglas will be missed by his beloved wife of 44 years Jean Arthur (nee Casson) . Cherished father to Robert Arthur and Andrea Maville (Michael). He will be missed and always remembered by his grandchildren Avery, Morgan and Charley. He is survived by his siblings Jean Hacock (Don) and Don Arthur. Douglas will be remembered by his mother-in-law Shirley Casson (late Harold) and by his in-laws Robert Casson (Barb), Diana Casson and Lorna Foran (Scott). He is predeceased by his parents Henry Rolland Arthur and Isabell Arthur (nee Proudfoot). Doug was a retired OPP officer, starting his career in White River, he then moved to Kapuskasing, then to Powassan, and when he retired in 1997 he was a Sergeant at the North Bay Communications Centre. Doug spent time volunteering with the Heritage Railway and Carousel and started volunteering in the beginning with them. He heard about the North Bay Carvers Club in the North Bay Mall, so he often popped over and borrowing some carving tools to help out. He loved red wine and cooking and the carousel and carving. He would sit there and carve Christmas ornaments; He would make the whole family a Christmas ornament every year. "He was just happy. He loved life!" If desired donations are suggested to North Bay Food Bank or Crohn’s and Colitis Canada and would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. In keeping with Douglas’ wishes cremation has taken place at Whispering Pines Funeral Home’s Crematorium. Online condolences can be made to www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com  The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to all the nurses who showed compassion during Doug’s final hours.
