It is with heartbreak and sorrow the family announces that Frieda passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Wednesday August 12, 2020 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 77 years after a two-year fierce battle with cancer. Frieda was the beloved wife to Jon Harling and will be forever lovingly remembered by her three children Paul Roy of Ottawa, Damien Martin (Sylvie) of Bonfield, Shawn Roy of North Bay and her cherished granddaughter Kasey Bureau-Roy of Calgary all of which she was so proud of. Frieda will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Annette Lebel (Lionel) of Gransby and Blair Martin of North Bay and her many nieces, nephews, and friends, and a special thank you to her niece Michelle Allard (Sean) for all the time and attention she gave Frieda throughout her journey. Frieda is predeceased by her parents Samuel and Irene (nee Belecque) Martin and her sister Aline Allard (Jim). Frieda spent many years working for the Ontario Northland providing food service on the Northlander Train. The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to Dr. Asai and all the staff at Health Sciences North-Sudbury and the North Bay Regional Health Centre for their care, compassion and kindness throughout Frieda’s battle. The family will receive visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Saturday August 15, 2020 from 11 am to 1pm. A private family service will be conducted. In accordance with current directives from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario regarding COVID 19 (https://thebao.ca/registrars-directive-changes-to-funeral-and-visitation-attendance/) the total number of attendees is limited, and additional precautions are in place.
