Gerard Joseph Lafontaine

Gerard peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday June 19, 2022, at the age of 88 years, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Beloved husband to Joyce (nee Lindsay) Lafontaine. Loving father to Ted Lafontaine, Karin Dreany (Brian), and Nicole Hummel (Matt). Cherished grandfather to Liam and Colin Dreany, and Jack and Will Hummel. Gerard was predeceased by his son Dan Lafontaine (2016), his granddaughter Alexandra Lafontaine (2019), his parents John and Florina (nee Charette) Lafontaine. He is survived by his sisters Theresa and Rita and by his brother Lucien. Gerard was a man of strong faith in a loving God. A man who throughout his life had overcome many difficulties and challenges. First and foremost, he was a devoted and loving family man, an outdoorsman, and an avid sportsman. The family will be receiving visitors for a memorial visitation at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Thursday June 23, 2022, between the hours of 1pm and 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. A Memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Callander on Friday June 24, 2022, at 11am. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of C1 and C3 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre for their outstanding care and compassion.
