Prudhomme, Joan Marie (nee Crawford)

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Prudhomme on July 14, 2020 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Predeceased by her soul mate Barney Deroché. Loving and devoted mother of Denise Horth (Guy) and Sharon Lapointe (Rock). Cherished Nana of Stephanee Sheremeta (Chris) and Danielle Horth (Lachlan), Sam (Samantha) and Eric Lapointe, and soon to be great Nana. Dear sister and best friend of Louise Fournier and Janice Sabourin. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Alice Crawford and her brothers Staniford and Garnet Crawford. Joan will be lovingly remembered by other family members and many friends.

Joan was born and raised in North Bay. Her parents owned Joan and Louise Snack Bar on Algonguin Ave, established in mid 1950 to where she worked for many years and became well known throughout our city. She worked for the City of North Bay for 40 years ending her career as manager of the Public Works Dept.

Her passion and enjoyment was spent at her cottage on Lake Nosbonsing entertaining family and friends, gardening, photo glazing, quilting, crocheting and knitting. She always made time in her busy schedule to help others and was forever lighting a candle with prayer for someone in need, knowing them or not.

Such gratitude and thanks to the staff at Barclay House to where mom resided for the passed 8 years, for their extra special care. To her PSW Linda Stone, her Doctor Ian Cowan  and all the nurses and doctors at the NBRHC who treated mom with the most amazing care.

In honour and loving memory of Joan Marie Prudhomme (nee Crawford), the family wishes to invite family and friends to gather for a Celebration of Remembrance Mass on Friday June 23, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Peter Apostle Church, 299 Airport Rd, North Bay, ON.

A luncheon with many of her favourites will follow in the Church Hall.

Mom peacefully rests at the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Cemetery and a Memorial Bench in her honour is located at Lee Park Playground, where the laughter of children at play will follow her.

Years may have passed since you left us, but the mark you left on this world will never fade and nothing can ever take away a love the heart holds dear.
