Louis Demers

Passed away at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Saturday February 13, 2021 at the age of 70. He is predeceased by his parents, Eugene Demers and Cécile Demers née Laporte. Louis was the salt of earth, and husband of fifty years to Diane Demers née Lavigne.  He was a great teacher, mentor and father to Micheline Demers, Alain Demers (Theresa) and Lisette Demers (Adam Hawke).  He was the superhero Pepère, to Amanda, Andrew, Molly, Gabriel, Alessandra, Atticus and Max, and great grandfather to Amelia, Lincoln Louis, Aurora and Olive. Louis was the proud older brother of Victor, Claude (Karen), Marc (Marvel), and Paul (Gisèle).  He had a positive impact on the lives of his nieces and nephews. Being with Louis was always an adventure and a laugh.  Special in his heart were Conrad, Anne, Rick and Carol.  A special thank you to the home care staff, Bridgette, Jai, Mike, and Steve.  

He was an honourable and unforgettable man.

As per the family’s wishes, a visitation will be held at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) Tuesday February 16th, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  (Due to Current Covid-19 Restrictions Attendance at a visitation is scheduled by appointment only. Please call the funeral home to book your appointment time 705-472-8520). The family will have a private funeral service due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, donations to the North Bay and District Humane Society and North Bay Food Bank would be greatly appreciated by the family. In accordance with current directives from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario regarding COVID 19 (https://thebao.ca/registrars-directive-changes-to-funeral-and-visitation-attendance/) the total number of attendees is limited, and additional precautions are in place.
