Madeleine Arbour Obituary

Madeleine Arbour passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on June 22nd, 2021 at the age of 85 years. Madeleine will be forever missed by her husband Joseph Arbour. She is the cherished mother of Diane Arbour, Joanne Fortin (John), Paulette McLaren (Bill), Lucille Johnston (Glen) and Denis Arbour (Kathy). She will be missed and always remembered by her grandchildren Richard (Caren), Julie (Kevin), Paul (Jennifer), Melanie (Dany), Michael, Melissa and Jamie as well as by her great-grandchildren Cameron, Joshua, Madeleine, Brayden, Marty, Kamden and Aurea.  Madeleine is survived by her siblings Jeannine Plante (Adrien), Rose-Alice Plante (André), Claire Dettuleo (Jim), Marielle Macdonald (Wayne) and Laurent Dessureault (Reina). She was predeceased by her daughter Louise, her parents Augustin Dessureault and Jeanne Dessureault (née Jutras) and by her brothers and sisters Bertrand Dessureault (Eleanor), Gaston Dessureault (Huguette), Marcel Dessureault (Late Sharon), Denise Dumond (Donald) and Thérèse Mallet (Armand). Mom made many special friends at the ONR Building in North Bay where she and Dad lived for 15 years.  A special thank you to Marilyn Halsall for praying with my Mom and for being her spiritual guide in her time of need.  Madeleine was also a member of the Filles d’Isabelle, Cercle Marguerite Bourgeois in North Bay for 60 years. Mom went to Florida to spend the winters for many years and enjoyed many summers at the McLaren cottage. She loved company, cooking, picking strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. We sure can’t forget her love of playing cards. Thank you so much to Dr. Toth, the Palliative Care Team and the nurses on C3 who were so professional and compassionate in their care of our Mom. As per Madeleine’s wishes, cremation has taken place at the Whispering Pines Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be gratefully appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made too www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
