Maria "Mary" (Patrizio) Miscio

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria "Mary” Miscio (nee Patrizio). Surrounded by her loving and devoted family, Mary passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 73. Mary is now reunited in heaven with her loving husband Leonardo “Len” Miscio of 53 years. Cherished mother to Anthony Miscio, Salvatore Miscio (Darcy) and Catharine Celebre (Carlo). Treasured Nonna of Alessia, Livia, Mateo, Angelina, Domenic, Marco, Dante and Gianna. Mary is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Pettella (Vic), Angela Ceccanese (Lum), Antoinette McParland (Peter), as well as her sisters-in-law, Claudette Patrizio (John pre-deceased), Maria Miscio (Giovanni pre-deceased) and brother-in-law Guido Lavalle (Maria pre-deceased). She is predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Carmela Patrizio. She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and close family friends.

Mary was born in San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, Italy and immigrated to Canada at a young age in 1953 growing up in North Bay and Toronto. She settled in North Bay and together with the love of her life Len, raised a beautiful family rooted in Christian faith and rich in the culture and traditions of their Italian Canadian heritage.  Mary was known for her cooking and baking skills and always took the time to make sure that she shared her delicious food with those she loved. During Mary’s illness, she never hesitated to express her desire for everyone in her life to love each other and live life to the fullest. Her greatest treasure was her family, and she took so much joy in spending quality time with them building lasting memories throughout her life. 

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rappaport, the staff of C3 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, Dr. Abu Shama and the staff at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, 8th floor North Tower for their excellent and compassionate care.

Visitation will take place at the McGuinty Funeral Home on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or North Bay Regional Health Centre are greatly appreciated by the family.
