Mario Caicco

Mario was born August 25, 1933, in Windy Lake, just outside of Sudbury, to Fortunata Carlucci and Pasquale Caicco. He came to North Bay at age four and lived in the same house for the past 84 years.  He was educated at Scollard Hall and NBCIS and was employed with Bell Canada for 37.5 years, retiring in 1993. He married his best friend and soulmate Stella Rich on October 10, 1959. Mario was an avid member of the North Bay Elks for many years and was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He was a long-time supporter of St Rita’s parish, holding several positions on council and later was a member of St Peter’s. Mario enjoyed gardening and played many sports growing up and into adulthood. (golf, hockey, curling and baseball). Mario is survived by his loving wife Stella (nee Rich) and three children,  Nancy Savage (Troy), Michael (Carol Irwin) and Cathy (Sally Kormann). He was proud Nonno to Matthew and Adam Caicco. He is also survived by his sister Mary Valenza (Mario deceased) and many nieces and nephews. Mario is predeceased by his parents, infant daughter and brother Giovanni Caicco (Eda). He will be sorrowfully missed by all. The family will be receiving visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday October 6, 2021, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St Peter the Apostle Church on Thursday October 7, 2021, at 10:30 am. Covid-19 restrictions remain in place requiring social distancing and the wearing of masks or facial coverings while in the funeral home or church.
