Mollie Cozens Obituary

Peacefully, on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 Mollie Cozens passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre surrounded by her loved ones.  Mollie, in her 90th year was a strong, kind, and caring mother to Chris (Denise) and Anne (Dave).  A loving, generous and hands on grandmother to Kori (Dan), Connor, Eric, Beth and Aidan. She was also a proud and enthusiastic great-grandmother to Joshua, Faith, and Riley. She is now at peace and reunited with her husband of 63+ years, George, who passed away earlier this year. She is loved by family all around the globe including her siblings that she was more than just a sister to; Jimmy, Peter, Noel, Tom and Billy and her sister and soul mate Ann who we lost in 2021.

Mollie left Ireland to go to England in the late 1950’s where she met George.  They travelled many miles together on their motorcycle before they had children.  While they had established a good life for themselves, they wanted better for their children, grandchildren, and future generations.  They moved to Canada in the 1960’s and lived in Georgetown for over 50 years.  They established a business and have many friends within the community.

During the pandemic they moved to North Bay to stay safe with their family.  They loved being part of such a busy household and were happy not to be isolated from their great-grandchildren.

Mollie was fondly known as “Fanny the Feeder” and will be greatly missed during the holidays, especially for her lemon meringue pie, banana muffins and shortbread.   The children will always remember her treat drawer, breakfast in bed and their special tea with many, many spoonfuls of sugar.

Mollie never lost her Irish accent and will forever be remembered for her love of singing and throwing the best parties on Byron Street.  She was the best wife, mum, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, October 21st at 2:00 pm at 29 Greenfield Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario.  In lieu of flowers please direct donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre’s Palliative Care Unit as a thank you to the doctors and amazing nurses that supported her and the family through this process. If desired, donations are suggested to the North Bay Regional Health Centre and would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. https://www.nbrhcfoundation.ca/memorial/ Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
