Robert George Walpole

On May 10, 2021, Bob, a few days short of his 91st birthday, passed away peacefully listening and dancing in his bed to Willie Nelson and happy to soon be seeing his wife Joy again.  Predeceased by his wife Joy (nee Simms), he was the loved and respected father of Bob (Pat), Stuart, Dee Dee, Duane and Margaret (Mike). He was caring poppa to Graeme (Samantha), Scott (Emily), Drew, Ben (Kristina), Julie, Courtney and Cody.  He was “Old White Poppa” (his words) to his great-grandchildren Raine, Sven and Christian.

Owner of Walpole’s Upholstery for 45 years, he worked magic on old couches and chairs bringing them to life again. Bob was a true Maple Leaf and Blue Jay fan.  Playing golf and pool were two of his favourite pastimes. He also loved to play cards and board games with his family. The game, Things in a Box, was one of the best. His shocking answers would have the family laughing hysterically. His sense of humour will never be forgotten and the memory will bring a smile to all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff throughout the hospital and a very special thanks to the staff, nurses and PSWs on A3 at the NBRHC for the care and compassion they gave to Bob and his family. They went above and beyond.  A very heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Leckie, Dr. Cuncins, Dr. Lewis and Dr. Nelson. We are blessed to have such fine people looking after us.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McGuinty Funeral Home. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.

Dad/Poppa, we will love you forever and love you for always. Please kiss and hug Mom for all of us back here.  We will always be thinking of you both as your ashes become one with the lilac tree we have planted in Gramma’s corral.
