Rosellen King Obituary

King, Rosellen Marie

On December 23, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, Rosellen peacefully transcended to Heaven at the age of 79.  Although her final journey provided little warning, her children found comfort knowing she would find peace as she reunited with her beloved husband William, her infant daughter Stephanie Rose, her parents William & Agnes Duncan, her sister Carol O’Connor, and the many family and friends who awaited her return.  Loving mother to Claire Joiner (Brian), Tracey King (Gordon Murduff), Michael (Josée) and Christopher (Nancy). Proud grandmother to Liam, Owen, Arrielle, Brenna, Connor, Jacob, Gabrielle, Stephanie, Elizabeth and Dayton. Sweet sister of Robert Duncan (Verna), Kathryn Ringuette (Claude, deceased), and Mary Gustafson (Bob).

Rosellen devoted her life to the glory of daily prayer and redemption through the service of others.  She began her medical career as a nurse’s aide at the age of 16 while attending St. Joseph’s College in North Bay.  She graduated high school with the class of 1961 and was married shortly thereafter.  In 1966, while raising two girls, she became the first married woman to be accepted into the St. Joseph General Hospital Nurse Training Program.  She graduated from this program in 1969 and went on to serve the North Bay community as a registered nurse for the next 28 years working at both the St. Joseph General Hospital and the North Bay Civic Hospital before retiring in 1997.  Throughout her life in North Bay, she was an active parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, imparting to her children a deep awareness of compassionate care through the Gospel teachings of her Catholic faith.

As per Rosellen’s wishes there will be no visitation.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday December 29, 2021 at 10:30 am. Interment will take place in spring 2022 at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by her family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, attendees are limited and the wearing of masks/face coverings while in the church and social-distancing is required.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
