Shirley peacefully passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday, July 20, 2023, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold Casson. Dear mother of Jean Arthur (late Douglas), Robert “Bob” Casson (Barb), Diana Casson, and Lorna Foran (Scott). Loving grandmother of Robert “Bob” Arthur (Julia), Andrea Maville (Michael), Melissa Casson, late Christopher Foran, and Jessica Foran (Jed) and great-grandmother of Avery Maville, Morgan Maville, Jaxon Foran, Charley Arthur, Carson House, and Bristol House. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Doris Swain.
Shirley and Harold moved to Chapleau, Ontario in 1950 as a newly married couple. She worked at Stedmans for many years. She had what everyone called “The Stedmans Stare”; watch out if you got one. Shirley was a volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 as a cook for events.
Her house was a home. Everyone was welcomed; if someone wasn’t coming in the front, someone was coming in the back door. If the Christmas lights were on so was the party. Shirley’s friends included all generations.
A special Thank you for Helping her in the last few years to Gerald (Soupy) Brunette, Gail Cyr, Jocelyn Bernier, John Lee, and many more. If desired, donations to the Trinity United Church and Chapleau Pentecostal Church would be gratefully appreciated by her family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
