It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Solange "Sally" Griese on Sunday September 20, 2020 at North Bay Regional Hospital.
Sally was born on June 3, 1944 to Girard Morin and Pamela Arbour, a Lumberjack and a HomeMaker in Quebec City, Quebec. At the age of 10, the family moved to a small town where Sally attended school for the first time starting in grade 4. Life got in the way as it does sometimes and she was unable to complete High School. Sally was motivated to educate herself and excel. Her thirst for knowledge pushed her to obtain her GED in 1979. Sally continued on to graduate from Nipissing University with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree in 1988 while raising 3 children. She used her Degree to help others overcome their struggles in life as a volunteer Probation Officer with Ministry of Correctional Services in North Bay and later as a volunteer with Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre where she would provide support to those who have experienced sexual violence or assault in their past on the Crisis Line, as a Court Monitor for Sexual Assault cases, and as an occasional replacement in the office.
Sally is survived by 3 children Peter (Tracey), Christine, and Eric (Barb). Sally was the cherished grandmother to Anthony Griese and Andrew Griese. Sally will be fondly remembered by her Brother Marcel Leclerc (Pierette) and many Nieces & Nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Gerard Morin and Pamela Arbour and her brother Ben Leclerc. As per Sally's wishes, cremation has taken place at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. If desired donations are suggested to the Amelia Rising Sexual Violence Support Centre at http://www.ameliarising.ca/give/ways-to-give/ . We will always remember the things you've taught us and how very much you love us. And in case we don't always say it, and sometimes we forget to show it, we want you to know, We Love you, too, Mom.
