Vincenzo Orlando Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that the family announces the unexpected passing of Vince at his home on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the age of 70 years.  He was born in Aprigliano Grupa, Italy and immigrated to Canada to settle in North Bay with his family in 1963 at the age of 11.

Vince was the devoted husband of 48 years to Jacqueline Orlando (nee Ranger), the loving father of Eric, Tom, David and Anna (Joseph) and cherished “Nonno” to Stella and Giovanni.  Vince was the dear son of the late Tommaso Orlando and Anna (nee Rizzuto) and is survived by his sisters Pina D’Agostino (Joe deceased) and Clara Iati (Paul).   He will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vince opened his business “Orlando’s Mens Wear” on Main Street in 1988 where he could be found enjoying the company of friends and customers most days and where he always went the extra mile to provide great service.  In an emergency, you could count on him to open his door outside business hours to help someone needing a suit, a tie or a shirt.

His passion was his family, but it also extended to his community where he proudly served as President of the Davedi Club for 19 years until his passing.  He volunteered his time to retain the Italian culture for the many immigrants who came over to this land of opportunities and to give back to the community in the hope of making a difference.  He was an exceptional man, highly regarded by so many friends and community partners for his strong sense of community and who always gave 100% of himself to help others on so many levels.

Our family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the front-line responders who provided care with professionalism and compassion… you are to be commended and to the Davedi Club staff, volunteers, executive and ladies' auxiliary who supported him during his terms of service.

Vince leaves so many to mourn and miss him beyond words.  May God take him in his loving arms to the promised place he so believed in for peace, rest and gathering of loved ones passed on.

The family will receive visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Sunday, May 14, 2023, between the hours of 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 10:30 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in memory of Vince to the North Bay Regional Health Centre -Cardiac Care Fund or the North Bay Food Bank would be gratefully acknowledged by Vince's family. Online condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
