With broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mother and Nonna, Virginia “Gina” Repaci (nee Scarfone). Surrounded by her loving family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the age of 93. Virginia was the loving wife of 61 years to Domenico Repaci. Cherished Mamma to Giuseppe Repaci (Alice) and Giovanna Parnell (Jeff). She was the adored Nonna to Dominic Repaci (Alessandra), Gina Calwell (Tyler), Anthony Repaci, Sabrina Repaci, Gina Parnell and Jack Parnell, and Great-Nonna to Massimo Repaci.
Virginia was the much-loved sister and sister-in-law to the late Antonietta D’Agostino (Salvatore), the late Anna Scarfone (late Santo), the late Santo Scarfone (Melinda-surviving), Maria Caliciuri (late Vincenzo), Francesca Morabito (late Giovanni), Teresa Fucile (Tony), Salvatore Scarfone (Patricia), Carmela Arrechhi (Filippo) and Rosetta Ferro (Antonino). She is predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Michelina (nee Morabito) Scarfone and Giuseppe and Giovanna (nee Capola) Repaci. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was born in S. Stefano in Aspromonte, Italia and bravely immigrated to Canada in 1958, paving the way for her future husband, Domenico, to join her to build their loving life together in North Bay. She created a beautiful home overflowing with love and comfort, and not to mention her gourmet Italian meals that remain unmatched. She had an incredible work ethic and worked hard all her life. From helping to raise her younger siblings, and working with her family’s olive fields in Italy, to being employed at the North Bay Hospital, and then at Lee Jeans Factory. There was nothing that she could not do. She was the one that you would see cultivating a huge vegetable garden, maintaining the property from snow and other elements, and of course wine making. She was always moving.
Her family was everything to her and they were always her priority. She would glow when she was with her children and grandchildren, and she was their biggest cheerleader and support. Virginia was beyond kind, so very loving, sweet, gentle, a calm presence and always smiling. She was so very intelligent, and methodical. And one of our best memories will be her quiet humour bringing out loud laughter from those around her. We strive to be like her. She will always be our hero.
The family of Virginia will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Friday, March 17, 2023, between the hours of 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Church (North Bay) on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11 am. Entombment will occur at All Saints Mausoleum at a later date.
