Yolande (Lindy) Pitre

April 16, 1931 - April 12, 2020

It is with broken hearts that we share the news of our dear mother's passing on Easter Sunday, April 12th, just shy of her 89th birthday.

Losing your Mom leaves a deep wound and it was indescribable not to be with her during her last days, to hold her hand, to kiss and hug her one last time (because of covid 19) but we are so grateful that our step father and dear husband Roger was by her side and she was not alone.

She was a very strong woman, hard worker, and loving mother to her six children Larry Lavigne (Wendy) Maurice Lavigne ( Kim) twins Pat Lavigne (RoseAnne) and Mike Lavigne (Cathy), Toni Lavigne-Conway (Dan) and Liane Groulx (Denis). Step mother to Denis Pitre (Nancy) Richard Pitre (Debbie) and Michel Pitre (Sandy).

She is survived by her baby brother Libby Bedard (Marlene) and predeceased by her parents Antoinette & Lucien Bedard , and her siblings Leo, infant sister, Lucy, Garfield, Raymond. 

Dearly remembered sisters-in-law Jeanine, Margaret, Bernadette, Susanne, and Lynn, and her loving nieces and nephews.

Today and every day she will be remembered by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she delighted in seeing. They and all of us have such fond and special memories of times of celebrations with Memere and Poppa at their Peninsula road home on the lake; birthdays, holiday dinners, showers, weddings, walks down to the little park, the beach and the regular marshmallow roasts for the kids.

When she was well, she loved long walks with her friend Maggie and later with our big brother Larry, knitting, reading, the bingo and casino, and travelling with Poppa in their motor home, and later wintering in Arizona for 20 years.

She was a faithful woman, and her prized possession was her Rosary beads from her dear friend/priest Ti-Guy that she always had close to her. It was her dearest wish that our Blessed Mother Mary come take her home.

In the past few years she suffered greatly from chronic illnesses that rendered her house bound so it was only fitting that God welcomed her to heaven on one of the most special days of the year of the liturgical calendar, Easter Sunday. This brings us much comfort.

And so it is that we bid farewell, at least in this life, to our sweet mother, grandmother and wife.

Thank you for your love, for the laughter and the tears, for the many times you generously helped us all in our time of need, and for the special moments we shared in the last few years. 

You will live on in our hearts forever and we know that you will be as you always said “I’m fine!”

We wish to thank Dr Rotondo and Jan for their many years of compassionate care for Mom and for being there for her, Roger & family.

Special thanks to the wonderful nurses of C3 at the North Bay Health Center for their compassionate care of Mom and Roger and for being so accommodating to our family with phone calls so we could talk to mom. Thank you to our sister Liane who devoted so much time, care and love to help Mom these past few years.

Kind thanks to care partner home nurses Trista and Merissa

for their tender care and service. 

Thank you as well to Anna (Pro Cathedral) for faithfully administering the Eucharist to mom at home.
