April 27, 1957 ~ December 16, 2016 (age 59) 59 Years Old

MARLEAU, RON, incredible father, husband and friend (1957-2016)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing Ron Marleau on December 16th 2016 at the age of 59.  Surrounded by his loving family, his short battle with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) brain cancer is now ended.  Ron leaves to mourn his loving and most dedicated wife Maddy (nee Milne), two outstanding children; his son Stephen, and his daughter; Taylor.  He also leaves his two brother’s; Stephen (Carol), Terry (Anna) and his sister; Dianne (Neil) as well as many relatives, Guy Seguin for his lifelong friendship, countless friends and colleagues whose lives he touched in so many ways.

Ron recently retired from a 34.5 year career at Ontera beginning as a telecommunication technician. This lead to a career pathway as a union representative He started the Local Chairsperson of United Steelworkers Lodge 1826 representing Ontera workers, then moved up to ONR Chief Steward, representing Ontera workers and ONR ticket agents and rail traffic controllers. He then was elected as vice president of District 6 for Local 1976, representing members of various USW properties across Ontario and the Martimes (most notably CPR, ONR, ACR, Marine Atlantic, Ontera, Canpar, Grain Handlers, Highland Transport, Airport Security Screeners). Ron also held positions of Treasurer and President of the ONTC General Chairpersons Association and served on the ONTC/Union pension committee and ONR employee benefits association.

Ron had a great sense of humor and had a strong passion for music. His charisma and eclectic interests led to many friendships and good times over the years. He was a talented guitar player which brought much joy to him and his friends and family. Words cannot be used to describe the amount he will be missed by all those who have been lucky enough with his presence.
