December 20, 2016 5:02 PM

Very, very sorry to hear of Ron my old childhood friend from Montrose passing away. We shared a lot of great times in the late '60's and early '70's. What I remember most was all the music we listened to and the fights we had with our parents about having long hair. Hard to believe the hair mattered so much but it was everything to us. Maddy and family, Stephen, Terry and Diane please accept our sincere condolences with Ron's passing. His life was cut short but he lived very well and left behind a great legacy.

No words can truly describe how we feel. Ron was an amazing person, and we were all so blessed to have known him. He was a great husband to Don's sister, Maddy, and wonderful father to Steve and Taylor. We will remember the fun and laughs that we shared with each other. He was warm and caring; always welcoming us into their home whenever we were in town to visit the family. It is with deep sadness that we say farewell to our brother-in-law. Be at peace, Ron.

I was honoured to have been Ron's colleague in TCU and later in the Steelworkers. He was a terrific trade unionist who inspired confidence and affection in those who worked with him. He loved his family, he loved his work, and he loved his community, and never tired of talking about all three. We are so sorry for his loss. Philip and Tina Conlon.
