TIERNAY, Arthur James (1917-2017)

Arthur was called home on Monday April 17, 2017 at the age of 99 years. Predeceased by his wife Beatrice, and by his parents James Barcliff and Margaret (nee Lachappell). Arthur will be sadly missed by his children Arthur Jr. (Gloria-deceased), Bruce (Alyee)and Rosemary (David). Loving grandfather to Marc (Shelly), Dean, Candace (Jason), Stephanie (Gary), Sophia and Ajja; great grandfather to Kassidy and Kane. Arthur is survived by his siblings Jack(Lorette), Bob (Betty-deceased), Joe (Joan) and Mary (Bill –deceased). He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie, and his bothers Terrance, Bill, David and George. Arthur worked 46 years at the ONR in several departments retiring in the Marketing Department. He helped form the first Callander Scout Troop and served 10 years on the District Scouting Association as the Public Director. Past member of the Callander Recreation Committee, and for many years coached local hockey teams in Callander. Arthur was one of the early members of the North Himsworth Volunteer Fire Department, and was instrumental in reorganizing and resurveying the Callander Union Cemetery in which he served on the cemetery board for over 10 years. He loved music and had a passion for dancing especially with his two special dance partners Vivian Forth and Betty Lawson. The family will receive visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay ) on Wednesday April 19, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Parish in Callander on Thursday April 20, 2017 at 10:30 am. Interment  St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thank you to Nurses of 3C, 1C, and D3 at the NBRHC. In lieu of flowers donations to the NBRHC Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
